Classical education comprises three stages — grammar, logic, and rhetoric — known together as the trivium. The term trivium, meaning "three roads" in Latin, was first articulated in the Middle Ages and has been tailored to the developmental stages of a student. Grammar is the first and foundational stage of the trivium, providing the framework for all future learning. As Heritage grows, our Grammar School will comprise kindergarten through fifth grade.
Our curriculum is designed to engage students, capitalizing on their natural curiosity and inspiring them to discover the beauty and intricacy of the world around them. They are taught the building blocks of reading, writing, and mathematics while being immersed in a wide and generous curriculum filled with living books and rich discussion. Our faculty of devoted Christians are committed to teach from a Christ-centered worldview and train students in the habits they need to live fruitful, God-honoring lives.
Our Curriculum
Every school day includes time in God's Word. Through Bible reading, discussion, memorization, and prayer, students are equipped with God's truth and sound reason to guide their thinking and orient their hearts toward Christ.
A systematic approach to phonics gives students a solid foundation as confident readers. Copywork, dictation, and teacher-guided written narrations give frequent writing practice — alongside beautiful penmanship.
Students are immersed in living books — novels, myths, legends, fairy tales, and biographies — chosen to awaken imaginations, build comprehension, and nurture a lifelong love of reading.
In studying history we learn from examples of virtue and the mistakes of the past, seeing God's faithfulness, kindness, mercy, and justice throughout time.
We believe math should be a time of high delight. Students explore numbers through concrete manipulatives before moving to abstract concepts, developing strong number sense and mastery of fundamentals.
In the early grammar years, emphasis is placed on nature study and exploring God's creation — teaching students to slow down, observe, and delight in the world around them.
